Play suspended during Morecambe-Bolton game due to allegations of racism

Play was suspended for 11 minutes

Bolton Wanderers' game against Morecambe was suspended on Saturday after there were allegations of racist abuse from home fans towards the Bolton bench. Morecambe were leading 1-0 at the time with Wanderers boss Ian Evatt walking on to the pitch to speak to referee Ross Joyce, who subsequently took the players off the pitch - with play resuming 11 minutes later. A post from Bolton's Twitter account read: "With Ian Evatt furious with something said in the stands by a home fan behind the dugout, the referee has pulled the players off the pitch. Play eventually resumed with Bolton getting a late equaliser courtesy of Amadou Bakayoko and after the game, Morecambe released a statement to confirm they would investigate what had happened. https://twitter.com/ShrimpsOfficial/status/1490009720110862345 It read: "Morecambe Football Club are aware of a series of incidents and allegations that have been made during Saturday's fixture against Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One.
