Love is in the air... in what looks like the Romanian fourth division
And now for the most heartwarming football story of the weekend: a marriage proposal taking place before a football match in Romania involving two assistant referees.
Romanian football journalist Emanuel Rosu shared the video footage on Twitter, which shows one of the assistant referees getting down on one knee before the match to pop the question. There must have been something magical about the occasion, whether it was the sell-out crowd or simply the awe-inspiring coliseum the two teams were playing in, because sure enough she said yes, leading to a steamy kiss and all seven supporters in attendance to go absolutely wild with a sign that I cannot translate as it is too small in the video and even if it wasn't, I don't speak Romanian. Sorry lads.

On a serious note, this is lovely. Much more of this at football matches please. After all, even linesmen and women deserve a shot at eternal happiness. This should be encouraged amongst all football officials except for Mike Dean. Honestly surprised he hasn't tried this one already whilst the ball is still in play during a match. Oh look, Agüero is clean through on goal in the title decider but oh wait, Mike Dean has got down on one knee to propose to someone and make it all about himself and, oh no, he is now just sending everybody off who is complaining that he has ruined the match and it is cancelled and so is the entire 18/19 season, it is all cancelled, the best in ages, because Mike Dean did a Mike Dean and just can't stop being Mike Dean.
Like I said. Heartwarming. Truly heartwarming. And for once a story involving match officials that isn't about Mike Dean.
