Some ‘fans’ were making the same appalling jokes after Ched Evans scored on his Chesterfield debut

Ched Evans made a goalscoring return to his football league career for Chesterfield.

The 27-year-old, who who had his conviction for the rape of a 19-year-old girl quashed, hit the net in his league debut against Oxford United after four years away from professional football. The Welsh striker, who served half of a five year jail term before his conviction was overturned after an appeal, was taken on by the Spireites on a £2000-a-week deal and scored two goals in pre-season.
