Javier Mascherano is a man that’s waited a long time for his first Barcelona goal.
Nearly seven years and 319 appearances on from his switch to the Camp Nou from Liverpool, the Argentine midfielder / defender finally rediscovered his scoring touch in the game with Osasuna on Wednesday evening.
Suarez was tripped on the edge of the box, and up stepped the 32-year-old to thunder home from the penalty spot, closing in on Lionel Messi’s club scoring record.

The sight of Mascherano firing home his first Barca goal was inevitably enough for him to make a few waves on social media.
And, because football fans are oh-so-bloody-predictable it was also enough for almost every other person with access to a Twitter account to crack the same joke.
