Everton’s Mo Besic sent off for Bosnia… for throwing his chewing gum at an opponent (Video)

Win, chews or draw...

Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Euro 2016 qualifier victory over Andorra came at a cost.

Despite cruising to a 3-0 win, they had Mo Besic sent off in the second-half – meaning he is now ineligible for their home game with Wales on October 10.

It’s a particularly damaging blow as the Everton midfielder did such a good job of marking Gareth Bale in the corresponding fixture last year…

Besic was shown a straight red for violent conduct midway through the second-half. His crime? Flinging his chewing gum at an Andorran player after a foul…

Although the punishment may seem a tad harsh, many will feel it is just desserts for an unpunished discretion against the same opponents early in the year.

Channelling Goodison Park legend Duncan Ferguson back in March, Besic didn’t take kindly to an Andorran player tugging at his shirt and reacted by grabbing him by the neck…

Amazingly, he wasn’t shown the red on that occasion. But what goes around comes around, and a well-chewed piece of gum has now cost him a three-match ban. What a silly masticator…
