In terms of football trends, there's an argument for saying you should either do something early or not do it at all.

No one's a fan of 'Vardy's on Fire', 'We've got Alli' is a waste of all our time, and even club owners buying the fans drinks seems a bit old hat now. When Arsenal took the piss out of the hordes of 'Announce Xhaka' merchants, it was amusing, but everyone going down the same road since reeks of shouting 'Come on Tim' at Wimbledon in 2016. Have Everton got around this by making the same joke individually to multiple fans? We're not convinced. https://twitter.com/Everton/status/763396469894283265 https://twitter.com/Everton/status/763396211646795776 https://twitter.com/Everton/status/763396124598231040 https://twitter.com/Everton/status/763396069954695168 In case you couldn't tell, Ashley Williams has joined the Toffees from Swansea City, signing a three-year deal with Ronald Koeman's team. https://twitter.com/nathan_sartain/status/763396730037604352 His arrival comes barely 24 hours after Everton sold John Stones to Manchester City for an estimated £47.5m (less Barnsley's substantial cut), and the Wales international joins fellow new signings Idrissa Gana Gueye, Chris Renshaw, Bassala Sambou and Maarten Stekelenburg. The Stones announcement was far more low-key, with City choosing the novel method of confirming the deal by proxy, adding the player to their official Champions League squad list before so much as a tweet. https://twitter.com/clu3lessrobert/status/763389434356178945 Sometimes less is more.
