England to donate Euros prize money to the NHS

Sunday’s stakes were high enough already. Come on boys, let’s do it for our heroes

According to reports, England’s players will donate their Euros prize money to various NHS charities around the nation after Sunday’s final against Italy.

The FA will be in line to receive around £24 million if England beat Italy at Wembley.

A portion of that fee – around £9.6m – will be shared among Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad, but the players intend to donate their winnings to help the NHS.

If the Three Lions are beaten by Italy in the final, the squad would be awarded a reduced bonus of around £8.5m.

The England players are already donating their match fees for each Euro 2020 game to worthy causes, as has been the tradition in the national team for many years. However, what a way to repay our healthcare heroes this would be.

This continues to redefine the term ‘Golden Generation‘ and, as if they haven’t already, they are one step away from history. Let’s bring it home for the NHS.
