Gilmour will now face ten days of isolation, as per Uefa protocols, jeopardising his chances of playing another game at Euro 2020.
The loss of Gilmour will come as a huge blow to Steve Clarke's side as they prepare to face Croatia in their final group game, hoping to clinch a place in the last 16.
They trained as planned on Monday and remain hopeful that no other members of their squad will be viewed as "close contacts" of Gilmour - despite the reaction to Andy Robertson's deleted Instagram Story, in which the Liverpool full-back could be seen playing table tennis with him.
