An England fan experienced a shocking situation in which he was chased out of a bar by a bouncer with a machete while in Malta.
England played Malta in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers on Friday and ran out as comfortable 4-0 winners after an own goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold strike, Harry Kane and Callum Wilson penalties and top the group with three wins from three.
Given the summertime scheduling of the fixture, many of the travelling Three Lions opted to make this a longer trip and catch some of the sun.
Across social media it's been documented about the nightlife in Malta, in which England fans have helped to boost local businesses, however Henry Winter of The Times has recalled one incident in which a fan was part of a terrifying experience.
He said: "England fan in a bar in Malta asked to put his shirt back on. He refused. Bouncer came over, pulled out a large machete and chased him out into the street. Fan was fine but a bit scared. Bar staff and locals barely raised an eyebrow."
One fan who was in Malta on Saturday said: "I’d strongly advice any English to avoid Beggars Inn tonight, bouncer has lost it completely and chased people out with a machete."
No images or videos of the incident have been released so far.
Gareth Southgate's men continue their quest to qualify for Euro 2024 on Monday to play North Macedonia.
