Eddie Hearn burns rival promoter with oldest trick in the book

David Higgins was too slow

David Higgins was sent crashing back to the schoolyard with one final burn from Eddie Hearn on Friday.

One of the most entertaining aspects of the build-up to Anthony Joshua’s mammoth heavyweight unification clash with Joseph Parker has been the back-and-forth between the fighters’ promoters.

Duco Events’ Higgins has been far more vocal than Parker in recent weeks as he’s hyped the undefeated Kiwi, while Hearn has never been one to shy away from a war of words.

The tension between Hearn and Higgins has been so palpable that Sky Sports even organised a special one-off The Glove Are Off episode which saw both men sat opposite each other to discuss their champions’ chances in Cardiff on Saturday night.

Hearn has been challenged on several occasions by Higgins but the Matchroom boss has always managed to get the last laugh.

We saw that earlier this week, when Higgins asked for ‘AJ’ to speak for himself, only for Hearn to mock Higgins by claiming that his legs were shaking from the nerves of the final press conference.

And on weigh-in day, Hearn again got the better of his opposite number as he broke out the oldest trick in the book to make Higgins look silly.

As the promoters addressed the crowd at the Motorpoint Arena, Higgins took a swipe at Hearn’s sartorial choices.

But when Hearn offered him a high five to congratulate him on the well-received diss, he pulled his hand away for the win.

Never gets old. Never!
