Douglas Costa scores a beauty as Bayern Munich hit five in Bundesliga season opener

He looks the business...

As Aston Villa and Manchester United treated us all to a Friday night bore-fest, Bayern Munich put on a show in their Bundesliga opener.

Scoring five without reply against Hamburg in the Allianz Arena, Bayern looked incredibly comfortable.

Mehdi Benatia was joined by the usual suspects – Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller (2) – on the scoresheet, but it was the scorer of Bayern’s fifth goal who really caught the eye.

Fresh from his move from Shakhtar Donetsk, Douglas Costa had already provided a perfect cross for one of Muller’s goals. With three minutes to go, the Brazilian added his own contribution. Seizing on confusion amongst the Hamburg defence, Costa curled his shot neatly into the corner of the goal.

Worryingly for Bayern’s rivals at home and abroad, their new signing seems to have settling in nicely in Bavaria.
