Diego Costa has a message for Antonio Conte as he all but confirms his Chelsea days are over

Subtle, Diego. Very subtle indeed.

Call us crazy, but something tells us Diego Costa won’t be pulling on a Chelsea shirt ever again.

The Brazilian-Spanish striker is reported to have been told as much by Antonio Conte earlier in the summer, with the Chelsea boss mistakenly believing he had all but sealed a deal for Romelu Lukaku to return to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has since signed for Manchester United and Costa… well, Costa doesn’t look like reporting for preseason training any time soon…

The striker is currently in Brazil, and shared a live broadcast of himself at what appeared to be a party on Sunday night. In it, we see him wearing the shirt of former club, Atletico Madrid.

As if this wasn’t already enough to burn his Chelsea bridges, he also instructed Cesc Fabregas to ‘give Conte a hug’ on his behalf when replying to the midfielder in the comments section.

Costa has been linked with a return to Atleti in recent weeks. Although there is nothing to stop him making such a move this summer, the Spanish club’s transfer ban means that he wouldn’t be able to be registered for them until January, meaning he’s likely to be loaned out elsewhere for the first part of the season.

Something tells us Diego might just be open to such a move…
