David De Gea has teased the idea of a return to Manchester United on social media.
According to The Sun, United are set to contact De Gea about returning on a short-term deal as they look for cover when Andre Onana goes to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Spaniard is still without a club but has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia while it also remains to be seen if De Gea himself would welcome a return to Old Trafford so soon.
But, just hours after the news broke of a potential return, De Gea posted to social media which got fans thinking that the 'keeper could be in line for a return.
He posted a thinking emoji, which led to one fan replying: "The return of the cryptic emojis."
A second commented: "He’s trolling those who don’t rate him anymore and it’s going to work too.
"David de Gea will break the Internet today," another posted.
"I speak for every Man United fan when I say you deserve a lifetime contract," a fourth wrote.
If United were to not sign De Gea there only options while Onana is away would be Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir - neither of whom have made an appearance this season.
