Speaking to ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown for Football Focus, the 24-year-old explained that this season was always going to be one of adjustment.
"It's a transitional year for me and getting to know new players, team-mates, systems, new ways of going about things," said Welbeck.
"I think I've put in a few good performances and been a bit unlucky on the goals front which is something I know will come in abundance once I come to know everything spot on with the club."
Despite only managing four league goals all season, Welbeck did help Arsenal overcome his old club Manchester United in the FA Cup by scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory.
