The only way to settle the score.

Cricket legend Glenn 'Pidge' McGrath has taken on a real pigeon to predict the outcome of the 74th edition of the much-loved Ashes series in partnership with Toyota.

It's The Ashes down under this year meaning festive cheer and late nights for fans watching from England while it's hot weather, beaches and plenty of sun cream for those going to watch the tests live in Australia.

Ahead of the much-anticipated series, Toyota, who are the principal partner of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and partner of Cricket Australia, has teamed up with cricket legend Glenn 'Pidge' McGrath and an actual pigeon to predict the outcome of this year's Ashes.

The showdown took place at Worcestershire County Cricket Ground, McGrath’s former English club with his opponent the pigeon being introduced as an “outfield specialist” who "knows his cricket well".

You can watch the full video below:

Pidge made his usual emphatic 5-0 prediction as he tipped his boys to "leave no crumbs" for England.

However, our flying friend the pigeon had other ideas.

The pigeon gave England a stunning 2-0 lead in the series, only to peg it back to 2-2 ahead of the big decider in Sydney.

Despite the pressure of an onlooking Aussie cricket legend, the pigeon could not be swayed and eventually gave the series win to England.

If the pigeon's prediction is indeed correct, then it will certainly be an upset, becoming the first time England have won The Ashes on Australian soil since 2010/11.

It would equally be their first Ashes win since 2015.

The Ashes are already underway, with a dramatic opener last night in Perth with England all out for 172 and Australia trailing by 49 runs with one wicket remaining on 123-9.

If the opening day was anything to go by, buckle in and get ready for some thrilling cricketing action!
