Commentator mistakenly believes Sergio Aguero’s penalty has broken Man City record

Well this is awkward

It’s just a matter of time before Sergio Aguero becomes Manchester City’s all-time top scorer.

He equalled a 78-year club record at the weekend, his  penalty in the 3-0 win over Burnley drawing him level with Eric Brook on 177 goals.

Named as a starter by Pep Guardiola for the Carabao Cup game with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night, many watching the game at the Etihad would’ve fancied him to get on the scoresheet at some point.

Though Aguero would have the final say in the tie, his shoot-out-settling Panenka did not count towards his goal tally for the club.

Sadly though, one poor commentator wasn’t aware of this, mistakenly believing the penalty had moved him ahead of Brook as City’s leading scorer.

You have to feel sorry for the bloke.

Unfortunately for him, plenty of people were quick to point out his error, too…
