Gaffer Xabi Alonso confirmed the decision ahead of the upcoming clash v Leeds United.

Xabi Alonso has banished a player from first-team duties ahead of Chelsea's Carabao Cup clash against Leeds United.

Alonso has started life at the Bridge well, defeating Fulham and Brighton in the opening clashes. He came close to a result at the Emirates Stadium, but fell short 2-1 to the champions of England, Arsenal.

Now turning his attention to the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, one star definitely will not be involved.

It's understood that winger Kendry Paez won't be in the first-team, having returning from his loan spell at River Plate last month.

“No, no. He is not part of the plans. At the moment, he is not part of the first team squad,” Alonso said when quizzed about the teenager.

The club agreed a deal to sign him when he was 16, but he had to wait until he turned 18 to officially join the London side.

The attacker is yet to play a first-team match for the club.
