He never got going at Chelsea and could be set to leave after just one season

You get the sense Chelsea fans will be pleased by this

It hasn’t worked out for Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea. The Frenchman joined Chelsea off the back of a title winning season with Monaco, where he had formed a solid partnership with Fabinho. His form in Ligue 1 persuaded Chelsea to splash out on him as their replacement for Nemanja Matić, who joined Manchester United.

However, Matić’s shoes proved too big to fill and Bakayoko struggled to get into form at Stamford Bridge. A lowlight that stands out was his horror show against Watford, when he picked up two yellow cards in quick succession was consequently sent off, allowing Chelsea to improve and grow into the game more despite being a man down.

To the relief of the player, the club and the fans, he could be set to leave the club this summer, as AC Milan have identified him as a transfer target.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Bakayoko is one of two midfield targets the Rossoneri have shortlisted, the other being Diadie Samassékou, a Malian 22-year-old midfielder.

Milan are keen to reassert themselves as one of Italian football’s superpowers, having failed to qualify for the Champions League since 2013.

They spent big last season and are seemingly planning to spend big again as they fight for their place in the most prestigious club competition.
