Cesc Fabregas expects Jose Mourinho to stick around at Chelsea

Tom Victor

Jose Mourinho has survived a poor start to the season, and one of the stars of the 2014/15 title-winning campaign expects the Chelsea boss to be given time to turn things around.

Cesc Fabregas has seen his own form slide along with that of the team as a whole, but he doesn’t anticipate Mourinho being sacked.

The Spaniard made the claim to Spanish radio station COPE, with the Evening Standard reporting Fabregas as saying he is “certain” things will improve at Stamford Bridge.

“Obviously the results are not as favourable as we would want but our level of play is not as bad as the results suggest,” the midfielder added.

Chelsea are 16th in the Premier League after winning just three of their first 12 matches, and have lost their last three games in the competition.

It has been suggested that sacking Mourinho could cost the Blues as much as £30m, though rumours have spread that the club has been identifying potential replacements.
