Brydon Carse handcuffed by police in derby as ECB opens investigation

Hours after Durham beat Derbyshire
Following a video that circulated on social media appearing to show England fast bowler Brydon Carse handcuffed by police on a night out in Derby, the England and Wales Cricket Board (EBC) has now launched an investigation.
On Sunday the Mirror published the footage, in which the 31-year-old is shown surrounded by four officers, hours after Durham beat Derbyshire in the County Championship.
According to The Telegraph, Carse was briefly detained but not formally arrested, and returned to the team hotel.
Team-mate Matthew Potts appears to be trying to speak to him in the clip, with Ben Stokes visible nearby.
Members of the Durham squad had gone out in Derby city centre after the match, when the alleged incident is thought to have taken place.
What the ECB said about Brydon Carse
"We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible", EBC said in a statement.
It is not the first off-field episode English cricket has had to address this summer. Stokes and Gus Atkinson were stood down after a nightclub incident following England’s first Test win over New Zealand, returning for the third, during which Stokes announced his international retirement.
Joe Root has since returned as captain and, the Mirror reports, scrapped the squad’s curfew, telling players to “be adults”.
It has been that sort of summer for a sport that also watched the village cricket cheating scandal play out online.
Carse, who took two wickets against Derbyshire to Stokes’ five, was in the England squad for the first Test against Pakistan but was not selected.
He could come back into contention for the second Test, which begins at Lord’s on Thursday, depending on the EBC's findings.
