Besiktas make approach to sign Liverpool goalkeeper

A move to the Super Liga could be exactly what he needs

He wouldn’t be getting much game time at Liverpool if he stayed

With the arrival of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson from Roma, Liverpool can now afford to sell one of Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius.

After his two huge mistakes in the Champions League final, you can understandy why Liverpool fans would rather get rid of Karius. With his confidence shot to bits, he is unlikely to recover any form unless he leaves and gets a run of games at a club outside of the spotlight.

But it seems more likely that Simon Mignolet will be the one to depart the club this summer, as Besiktas have made an offer to Liverpool for the services of the Belgian goalkeeper.

Besiktas are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper, having sold Fabri to Fulham for £5m. The Istanbul club did not qualify for next season’s Champions League but will play in the Europa League, having finished fourth in a tantalisingly close title race in the Turkish Super Liga.

Mignolet has played over 200 times for Liverpool since replacing Pepe Reina in 2013, but now looks to be third choice. A move to Besiktas could be the perfect next step for him.
