Bayern Munich denied those Ronaldo rumours with the help of a duck

Paul Moore

Not something you see that often.

Right, very few of us believe that Cristiano Ronaldo will actually leave the Bernabéu. Sorry to crush the hope of all those Manchester United fans.

After reports circulated that the Portuguese star was unhappy with the taxman and life at the Champions League winners, it appears that PSG and China were the most likely destinations, should Ronaldo decide to pack his bags and leave Madrid. Yeah, we don’t see that happening either.

Still though, people were right to be wary about Ronaldo’s departure because despite Phil Neville’s best efforts to convince the Ballon d’Or winner to return to Old Trafford, we would be amazed to see him leave.

Real have reportedly slapped an €180m (£157m) price tag on their prized asset and it appears that they’re even willing to pay Ronaldo’s tax bill to keep him at the club.

While things remain uncertain, there’s one thing that we definitely know. Ronaldo won’t be joining Bayern Munich.

In a rather odd move, the German champions have publicly addressed the rumours that the Portuguese superstar might be playing his football at the Allianz Arena next year.

With the help of Franz the Bayern Munich duck, the Bavarians had this to say:

“Rumours about FC Bayern swirl around the world daily via printed press, social media and whispers. Digital technology means news is spread with great speed, but sometimes stories come out that are simply not true. Conveniently in German, the word “Ente” means both a duck and a hoax, which is why at we will be bringing you the “Hoax of the day” presented by Franz the Bayern duck.

It adds: “The Italian sport paper Gazetto dello Sport has been reporting in recent days that FC Bayern are interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Following this publication, the rumour, as well as others, was picked up and spread further by numerous German media sources. Bayern’s Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had this to say: “We’re used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows. Normally we don’t comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy.”

It’s clear that Ronaldo has a lot of admiration for Bayern’s coach Carlo Ancelotti, but they definitely they won’t be working together next season.
