Barcelona ease financial concerns by selling further 15% of TV rights

Sixth Street have now purchased 25 per cent of Barca's La Liga TV rights
Barcelona have sold a further 15 per cent of their domestic television rights to global investment firm Sixth Street, less than a month after selling them an initial ten per cent stake. The deal was done on Thursday and has now been confirmed by the club, with the injection of cash enabling Barca to register several new signings. According to ESPN, the deal is worth €320m (£272m). Sixth Street have now purchased 25 per cent of Barca's La Liga TV rights for the next 25 years after acquiring an initial 10 per cent for €207.5m (£176m) at the end of June. https://twitter.com/FCBarcelona_cat/status/1550375578196475904 Robert Lewandowski's arrival at the club from Bayern Munich was confirmed earlier this week. He, along with Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Raphinha will now be registered, with the club also able to finalise contract extensions for Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto. The deal agreed with Sixth Street last month meant that Barca were able to avoid finishing the 2021/22 season with losses against their name. Selling an additional 15 per cent stake of their domestic TV rights is expected to free up money to invest in the overhaul of Xavi's first team squad.
Though the agreement will help the club as it attempts to get in line with La Liga's spending rules, it is unlikely to change their stance on Frenkie de Jong, who, despite what their president Joan Laporta has said publicly, they are believed to want to sell.
De Jong reportedly has no interest in leaving Barca but the club are keen for him to depart to help trim the club's bloated wage bill.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with the Dutch midfielder, with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion with him ahead of his first season at Old Trafford.
