Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique, has called for an invesitgation into claims that an assistant referee was told to favour Real Madrid in the upcoming El Clasico.

The official, who has not been named, reportedly presented a document with the claims to Spanish anti-corruption authorities.

With the fixture scheduled for November, the Barca manager, who represented both clubs as a player, has called for the claims to be looked in to.

“It isn’t nice, so I hope it’s fully investigated to avoid any risk to our football.

“Referees already have a difficult enough job without adding more fuel to the fire.

“What seems logical and licit to me is that it is fully investigated to see if it is true or it is something that someone has invented.”

As of yet, Real Madrid have refused to comment on the allegation, which has also been passed on to Spanish police.
