Things can only get better…

It was recently reported that Italian giants AC Milan were keen to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea. The midfielder struggled to put togethera run of form in his first season at Chelsea, and failed to live up to the high expectations set by his form at Monaco, where he formed a solid partnership with Fabinho.

However, as reported by RMC via Get French Football, the Frenchman has now decided that he would prefer to stay at Chelsea this season and fight for his place.

He is keen to prove to the doubters that he is good enough to play in the Premier League. But also, the interested clubs, who include Milan and Sevilla, would not be able topay him the wages he earns at Stamford Bridge.

He did not impress last season, but it is entirely possible that under the guidance of  new boss Maurizio Sarri, Bakayoko will rediscover his confidence and form and showcase the talent we all know he has.

His dynamism could be a useful tool for Chelsea, who will look to play quickly in transitions and hit teams on the counter, just as Sarri’s Napoli team did in Serie A.

Chelsea will line up in a midfield three next season, as Sarri opts for his usual system over the 3-4-3 system that Conte had implemented.

Their midfield options currently comprise Jorginho, N’golo Kanté, Cesc Fàbregas, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley. So, Bakayoko faces some competition to break into the side, but he seems to be backing himself to do so with his decision to stay at Chelsea.

It also seems certain that Chelsea will go into the season with Álvaro Morata leading the line, after Maurizio Sarri all but dismissed links with Gonzalo Higuaín. The Italian manager seems happy with Morata and hopeful that he will rediscover his best form.
