Arsenal’s chairman releases a statement on Wenger’s future and the fan unrest

Paul Moore

Things will be done “at the right time and in the right way”.

There’s no denying that there are massive problems at the Emirates because Arsenal’s Champions League exit to Bayern Munich almost epitomised the growing frustrations that have engulfed the club and its supporters.

Ok, the first leg defeat in Munich effectively ended the tie as a contest, however Arsenal’s capitulation in front of their own fans has only increased the pressure on Arsene Wenger.

With the future of both Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still uncertain, it’s clear that the Gunners are in a crucial period, especially considering the fact that they’re currently sitting outside of the Champions League places.

The Wenger Out protests were in full view ahead of the second-leg against Bayern, and Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick has responded.

Ina  statement that was published to their website, he said: “We are fully aware of the attention currently focused on the club and understand the debate. We respect that fans are entitled to their different individual opinions but we will always run this great football club with its best long-term interests at heart.

“Arsène has a contract until the end of the season. Any decisions will be made by us mutually and communicated at the right time in the right way.”
