Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires rolled back the years with this goal at the Arsenal legends game

Memories...

Remember the good ol’ times, Gooners?

Remember the days when the phrase “Wenger Out” would have been considered so ridiculous that ears in the red part of London wouldn’t even be able to register it? Remember when an Arsenal team solidified their place in the annals in football history by going unbeaten for the entire 2003/04 Premier League season?

That was a very cheery time to be an Arsenal fan, the era in which club legends Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg were in their pomp.

For 90 minutes on Saturday, Gooners got to relive these wonderful days as a team of legendary Arsenal players took on AC Milan Glorie at the Emirates, with proceeds from the friendly encounter going towards the Arsenal Foundation.

Arsenal ran out 4-2 winners on the day, with Nwankwo Kanu bagging a hat-trick for the Gunners and Christian Vieri scoring a brace for the Italians.

However, the highlight of the match for many Gooners was seeing a short-haired Robert Pires get on the end of Freddie Ljungberg’s perfectly-placed cross to score the home side’s fourth and final goal.
