Arsenal fans think Denis Suarez and Aaron Ramsey are the same person

In the end, it was a relatively uneventful transfer window at the Emirates

After talk of moves for Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco, the only significant January arrival for Arsenal was that of Denis Suarez.

The 25-year-old joined on loan from Barcelona, with the north London club having the option to make the deal a permanent one at the end of the season.

Given current circumstances with Aaron Ramsey, who is believed to have completed a medical and agreed big-money wages ahead of a summer move to Juventus, it seems highly likely Suarez will remain with Arsenal beyond the end of the current campaign.

Effectively, Suarez is being signed as Ramsey’s replacement. And while this is obviously because the pair play in similar midfield roles, plenty of Arsenal fans have noticed that the new arrival also bears a striking resemblance to the outgoing Welsh international…

Perhaps, though, there’s more to it – as this tweet suggests…

In joining Arsenal, Suarez is reunited with Unai Emery, his former coach during his loan spell with Sevilla in the 2014/15 season.

“We are very happy that Denis Suarez is joining us,” Emery said. “He is a player we know well and I have worked with him at Sevilla. He brings us quality and options in many different attacking positions, so he’ll be able to help the team.”

Meanwhile, the close of the window brought an end to talk that Ramsey would be allowed to leave Arsenal for Turin six months early. Reports had claimed that the Gunners may be open to the 29-year-old moving on in January to claim a transfer fee instead of waiting until the end of the season when his contract expires and he will be allowed to leave on a free.
