Thomas Tuchel ‘signs deal’ to replace Arsene Wenger but Arsenal fans aren’t happy

Tuchel has a history with Arsenal's current Head of Recruitment.

They’re not buying this one bit.

Yesterday German newspaper Kicker reported the news that former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel would be taking over at Arsenal at the end of the current season.

Arsenal fans however remain sceptical over the news, given the bad blood that exists between Tuchel, who has also managed Mainz and Augsburg, and their current Head of Recruitment, Sven Mislintat.

The two clashed repeatedly whilst at the German club and there was apparently an ongoing power struggle over player recruitment and transfer targets with Tuchel reportedly banning Mislintat from the training ground.

Mislintat joined Arsenal in December after a decade at Dortmund, where he is widely credited as having developed their talent pipeline. Unsurprisingly, he was influential in the January signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, players he originally scouted and brought to the German club.

Whether he and Tuchel can rebuild bridges remains to be seen after their personal fallout was enough for Tuchel to resign from the club and take time out of management.

Arsenal fans remain unconvinced.
