Dele Alli didn’t have his finest day in a Tottenham jersey as his side were comfortably brushed aside by Arsenal in the North London derby.
Goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez were enough to secure the win for the Gunners as they narrow the gap on the top four.
Despite this win, there was a disgraceful scene in the 75th minute when Pochettino decided to replace Alli with Son Heung-min.
Rob Harris, a sports journalist with the Associated Press, was at the Emirates and he reported that a monkey chant from an Arsenal fan could be heard when Alli’s name was mentioned over the PA system when he was taken off.
Since this happened, Harris has informed JOE that Kick It Out – football’s equality and inclusion organisation – have been made aware of the incident.
Sadly, the issue of racism in football was in the news recently. Earlier this morning, Uefa closed the disciplinary case into the alleged monkey chants that were aimed by Roma fans at Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.
It’s reported that Uefa closed their investigation because there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
