Arsenal Twitter account teased fans before Lucas Perez announcement

Done deal

These days, football clubs like to pull out all the stops when announcing a new signing.

From Valencia presenting Nani to their supporters with a bizarre show of capoeira, to Manchester United letting the world know that they’d re-signed Paul Pogba with a specially made video, this summer has been full of unorthodox player unveilings.

Now, with the transfer window of summer 2016 in its final days, Arsenal have got in on the act with their announcement of Lucas Perez.

Having completed the capture of the 27-year-old Spaniard from Deportivo La Coruna, Arsenal’s Twitter teased supporters by tweeting the following video before the news of the signing had been officially announced.

As you’d probably expect, it didn’t take long for one supporter to identify who the silhouette belonged to, which prompted the club to send another tweet confirming the £17.7m deal.

As is the done thing these days, the signing of Perez even came with its very own #BienvenidoLucas hashtag – slightly better than #Pogback, we guess.

Perez, who scored 17 goals in 37 appearances last season, joins Arsenal after being strongly linked with Everton earlier in the summer.

Arsenal are now expected to seal a deal for German international Shkodran Mustafi. The Valenica defender is expected to arrive at The Emirates for a fee in excess of £35m.

We look forward to seeing how the club’s Twitter account decide to announce that deal.
