Ossie Ardiles accuses Martin Tyler and Gary Neville of 'disrespect' over Pochettino comments

'Very disrespectful'

Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles has accused Martin Tyler and Gary Neville of disrespect after discussing rumours linking Mauricio Pochettino with the Manchester United manager's job during Spurs win at Everton on Sunday afternoon.

United parted company with Jose Mourinho last week, appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim boss until the end of the season. They have confirmed they will look to appoint a more long-term replacement in the summer, with Pochettino widely reported as being their number one target.

Tyler and Neville made reference to this while on commentary duty during Spurs' 6-2 hammering of Everton at Goodison Park, something which didn't sit well with many of the club's supporters - Ardiles included.

'Very disappointing to see two professionals, Tyler and Neville, not doing what they should: Commentating about the game, and the game only,' the 66-year-old tweeted after the game. 'NOT about rumours. Very disrespectful to Man Utd, his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and especially to MP and @SpursOfficial players and fans.'

Ardiles, a World Cup winner with Argentina, spent ten years as a Tottenham player between 1978 and 1988, winning the FA Cup and Uefa Cup.

Spurs had fallen behind early at Goodison to Theo Walcott, only for eventual man of the match Son Heung-min to equalise soon after. Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane gave them a 3-1 half-time lead, with Christian Eriksen making it 4-1 soon after half-time. Gylfi Sigurdsson briefly gave the home side a flicker of hope with their second of the afternoon only for further goals from Son and Kane to complete a comfortable victory for Pochettino's men.

Spurs now turn their attention to the visit of Bournemouth on Boxing Day, with a home game against Wolves their final match of 2018.
