Apparently Tom Ince is as good as James Rodriguez. Erm...
Premier League flop Tom Ince is as good as £60m Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, according to his dad.
The former Liverpool winger has found himself out of favour at Hull this season and has been turfed out to Nottingham Forest and Derby on loan.
However, Tony Cascarino writes in The Times that the former England U21 player could have been playing in the Champions League quarter-finals instead of being passed around the Championship like a hot potato.
But his hopes of playing European football were apparently thwarted by his father and former England captain, Paul.
Cascarino claims that Ince was offered a very competitive deal at AS Monaco when his contract ran out at Blackpool last summer. But the discussions between club and player reportedly broke down when Paul Ince tried to get a better deal for his son.
Ince Sr. reportedly insisted that his son was as good as James Rodriguez, and thus deserved similar terms, Cascarino adds.
The Colombian star left Monaco for Real Madrid after the World Cup for a fee £60 million.
