Anthony Joshua’s purse for Joseph Parker clash is nothing to sneeze at

Not too shabby

Anthony Joshua is expected to pocket a career-high purse on Saturday night.

Undefeated records will be on the line in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, where Joshua will take on unbeaten WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, with both men aiming to take one step closer to unifying the entire division.

And they will be handsomely rewarded for whatever happens in the Welsh capital.

Joshua, being the A Side in this fight, will predictably earn more than his opponent, with the Daily Telegraph reporting that ‘AJ’ will take home close to £20 million once his pay-per-view cut and sponsorship revenue are added to his pay.

Parker, meanwhile, is expected to make £13 million, which is significantly more than the £1.3 million he was said to have earned in his successful defence against Hughie Fury last September.

Joshua pocketed roughly £10 million for his victory over late replacement Carlos Takam last year while he and Wladimir Klitschko each took home at least £15 million for their Wembley war.

Unification fights are where the big money lies, it would seem, and the winner of Joshua vs. Parker will stand to earn considerably more when the inevitable clash against WBC title-holder Deontay Wilder comes to fruition.

We’ve not seen an undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis but once Wilder agrees to fight the winner of Joshua vs. Parker, the division will be unified once again.
