Josh Kerr vs Jakob Ingebrigtsen
Team GB now sit on 42 medals in total after Keely Hodgkinson’s brilliant and historic gold medal on the track last night.
There are plenty more golden opportunities throughout the rest of the week. Today they have several good chances to get back on the podium across several sports.
The individual showjumping final gets underway at 9am. Harry Charles, Scott Brash and Ben Maher, the three Brits who won team gold have qualified for the individual showjumping event and they have high hopes of medalling.
As the show jumping begins, so does the qualifying for the men’s 3m springboard at the diving with Britain’s Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden looking to bag a place in the final.
Also getting underway at 9am will be the women’s boulder qualifying, featuring GB’s Erin McNeice and Molly Thompson-Smith while at the athletics Laura Muir, Georgia Bell and Revee Walcott-Nolan begin their Olympic campaign in the 1500m’s.
At 10.20 Victoria Ohuruogu will be in action in the 400m repechage.
After a nasty injury last weekend which saw Sky Brown dislocate her shoulder, she will hopefully start her Olympic campaign at 11.30am as she hopes to qualify for this afternoon’s final. She picked up bronze in Tokyo at just 13-years-old and will be hoping to medal again in Paris but she has been plagued with injury in the build-up.
At 2pm GB’s Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix will be in action in the individual 10m diving final. Spendolini-Sirieix already has one medal to her name as she and her diving partner Lois Toulson picked up a bronze medal in the 10m Synchro event.
At 2.43pm Maichael Beckett will be in action in the men’s dinghy final. He currently sits fourth in and will need to beat the sailor in front of him by three boats to win a medal. Though it is unlikely, it is not impossible.
After Team GB claimed the first gold medal in the velodrome last night in the women’s team sprint, they will feel inspired to continue that great form as the women’s team pursuit qualifying gets underway at 4.30pm.
