Alberto Moreno lined up for shock Barcelona move

Nope. Did not see this one coming…

Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno is reportedly being eyed by Barcelona, who are said to have made him one of three key targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old moved to Anfield from hometown club Sevilla in 2014 but has found his playing time limited of late due to the impressive form of Andy Robertson.

Already linked with several moves away, it now seems Barca have emerged as a surprising potential next destination for the left-back.

SPORT, the Barcelona-based newspaper, say the LaLiga champions are looking at bringing Moreno in on a two-year deal to provide cover for Jordi Alba, who recently signed a new deal at the Camp Nou.

Having already agreed a deal for Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong, Barca are said to be targeting Moreno along with another Ajax star, Matthijs de Ligt, and Benfica’s Luka Jovic, who has impressed while on loan in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Moreno has made just five appearances for Liverpool this season, the last of which came in the FA Cup Third Round defeat to Wolves in January.

Barcelona look well placed to retain their LaLiga title, a Lionel Messi-inspired win over Real Betis in their last outing extending their lead at the top to ten points.

Should they beat Manchester United in their Champions League quarter-final, Barca may even face Liverpool in the semis – provided they see off Porto in their last eight tie.
