Frenkie De Jong has reportedly decided to join Paris Saint-Germain

Ajax youngster Frenkie De Jong will 'almost certainly' join Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report in his homeland. The 21-year-old is currently one of the most highly rated young players in world football and he, along with teammate Matthijs De Ligt, has been linked heavily with possible moves to Barcelona and Manchester City. Real Madrid and Tottenham have also been mentioned as potential destinations. However, according to De Telegraaf, he is now likely to leave Amsterdam for Paris, with a delegation from the Ligue 1 champions agreeing to meet the €75m (£66.8m) asking price requested by Ajax director Marc Overmars on Thursday. Willem II, the club at which De Jong started his career, will reportedly receive 15% of the fee. De Telegraaf add that Overmars has made clear that that no deal has been finalised, possibly an indication that he expects more clubs to make a move. Despite this, it says the transfer, which will surpass Davinson Sanchez's £42m move from Ajax to Spurs to become the biggest in Eredivisie history, is now 'expected' to happen. City had appeared to be the frontrunners for De Jong, with manager Pep Guardiola thought to have likened him to a young Andres Iniesta.  However, the report suggests that the recent allegations about the club's attempt to circumvent Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations may have seen them cool their interest.
