Adnan Januzaj’s agent ‘close to finalising move away from Manchester United’

So much was expected of him at Old Trafford

So much was expected of Adnan Januzaj at Manchester United.

A rare bright point in their disastrous season under David Moyes, the young Belgian was tipped by many to have a major role at Old Trafford in the years ahead.

However, the 22-year-old’s form dipped under Louis van Gaal and, with his first team opportunities limited at the club, he was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund. Having failed to make an impact while at the Bundesliga club, Januzaj was given a season-long loan deal with Sunderland in an attempt to get back on track.

Having earned plenty of first team minutes at the Stadium of Light this year, Januzaj has disappointed. After 22 Premier League appearances he is yet to score for the club, only mustering three assists in the process. With this in mind, it’s perhaps no great surprise that, as his contract winds down, there’s plenty of speculation that Januzaj will leave United on a permanent basis this summer.

In fact, one report in Turkey suggests that Januzaj’s representatives are to travel to Turkey in the near future to tie up a deal with Fenerbahce. Tavkim suggest that a permanent deal is the priority, although the Istanbul club – who faced United in the Europa League this season – will attempt to secure a loan move if this fails.
