Gareth Ainsworth was ‘furious’ with the alleged abuse

Wycombe’s League One clash against MK Dons at Adams Park was briefly halted after striker Adebayo Akinfenwa was subject to vile chants from some Dons supporters.

According to reports, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth was ‘furious’ with the alleged abuse that Akinfenwa was receiving from the away fans.

As per Ian Baker, there was a tannoy announcement to ask the MK Dons fans to refrain from signing the chant in question, however, many fans ignored the request.

The games was paused as Ainsworth spoke to the referee about the incident – with the game able to continue following the delay.

It is thought that Chairboys’ striker Akinfenwa confronted away supporters when a section of them aimed a vile chant in his direction.

Akinfenwa – who was a substitute for the match – was abused as he was warming up on the sidelines.

He was seen angrily confronting the Dons fans, and it is believed that stewards ejected at least one supporter.

MK Dons took to twitter to ask their fans to refrain from signing the chant about Akinfenwa, writing: “We ask that the #MKDons fans please refrain from singing that chant. Let’s get behind the boys”.

Scott Twine scored in the 13th minute to give Liam Manning’s side a 1-0 lead at the half-time break.
