Nigel Farage has finally admitted that Keir Starmer was right not to involve the UK in Donald Trump’s Iran war.
With every passing day of Trump’s disastrous and seemingly clueless military action in Iran, Starmer’s refusal to commit British troops to the conflict is vindicated ever more.
And now, it seems that even Farage can no longer deny that the prime minister was correct in his stance.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday – in which Reform announced they would commit to the pension triple lock if they win the next election – Farage addressed the conflict in the Middle East.
He started off by saying the UK had been ““all over the place” on the Middle East.
He said: “It seems that the Prime Minister has upset the Americans. He’s upset the Cypriots. He’s upset much of the Middle East.”
However, the Clacton MP then added: “Whilst he may be right not to commit us militarily to direct involvement, the truth is we couldn’t do it anyway. We haven’t got a Royal Navy.”
When asked if he thought there was a chance the US would abandon their allies in attempts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Farage said: “I wouldn’t for a minute think that the Americans would walk away from that”.
Meanwhile, Trump seems to have also lost the support of Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.
Speaking on Thursday, she said Trump should “not be abandoning a mess that he’s made.”
“If you break it, you own it,” she added.
