Frankie Boyle takedown of Rishi Sunak

An image you won’t be able to get out of your head

As the Tory leadership race reaches its final weeks, Frankie Boyle has decimated both candidates, with his takedown of Rishi Sunak particularly memorable.

In a recent appearance on The Last Leg, Boyle was asked about his opinion on the final two candidates for the Tory leadership – Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.

He delivered a scathing review of both in classic Frankie Boyle fashion.

The Scottish comedian said: “We’re gonna have the prime minister chosen by a very small group of people during a heatwave.”

He then described Rishi Sunak as “a guy whose greatest desire in life is to be pegged by Thatcher’s ghost,” prompting riotous laughter from those in the studio.

Boyle went on to say that Liz Truss could become the first prime minister to “forget to breathe and just die,” but most were still getting over the mental image he had just conjured involving Sunak and the 1980s Tory PM.

It wasn’t the only time the often controversial Scottish comedian spoke his mind on the show, having also said that current prime minister Boris Johnson deserves to be ‘dragged screaming into hell.’

Speaking about the PM’s final Prime Minister’s Questions, in which Johnson signed off with  the famous Terminator line “Hasta la vista, baby,” Boyle said: “You finished with a quote from The TerminatorThe Terminator! After you killed 150,000 f**king people during the pandemic.

“I don’t want to sound like I’ve got a grudge or anything, but I hope a vent opens up in the ground and clawed hands drag you screaming into hell.”

This prompted 11 viewers to complain to Ofcom, but the broadcast regulator confirmed last week that it would not be taking any action over the comments.

Sunak and Truss are both currently battling it out for the Tory leadership, and have been taking part in hustings across the country as party members prepare to vote on who the country’s next prime minister should be.

Truss is the heavy favourite to win, with the result of the ballot set to be announced on September 5.
