Embarrassing hot mic moment for Robert Jenrick after GMB interview

The comment was hear by presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid.

Robert Jenrick was involved in an awkward moment on Good Morning Britain when his mic caught a comment off-camera.

On Wednesday, the Reform MP appeared on GMB where he was interviewed by Ed Balls and Susanna Reid.

During the interview, Jenrick was asked about the controversial £5 million Reform leader Nigel Farage had received from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne in 2024.

Jenrick has desperately defended Farage in recent weeks about the sum, but, just like the rest of Reform, seems to believe his party shouldn’t face the same scrutiny given to other political figures and parties.

This was once again made clear with his petty reaction once the interview came to an end, which luckily for us was caught on his hot mic.

After Balls thanked Jenrick for appearing on the programme, the Newark MP’s mic caught him saying “well, that was a waste of time.”

With both presenters hearing the comment, Balls said: “Oh dear. I think it wasn’t a waste of time.

“I think Robert Jenrick gave us very clear answers.”

Jenrick later responded to the clip in a post on X, standing by his comments.

He wrote: “Yes, we’ve got Ed’s useless mates back in government, people are struggling, and he can’t be bothered to ask how Reform would do things differently.

“For the record: Reform will cut your energy bills by £200 by cutting VAT *and* by removing green levies.”

On Tuesday, Andy Burnham announced he would be scrapping VAT on electricity bills later this year, in a move that is set to save the average household £45 a year.
