Peter Hitchens: If the pubs open, I’ll go tomorrow

Oli Dugmore

Lockdown is not particularly fun

Then again, staying inside your home and avoiding contact with the outside world as a means to prevent the unnecessary spread of a deadly virus is not exactly meant to be fun.

The majority of the British public are in favour of lockdown measures enacted by the government in order to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, with a recent Observer poll conducted by Opinium finding that as few as 11 percent of people believe the time is right for schools to reopen, and just 9 percent in favour of pubs opening their doors again.

Peter Hitchens is an author and columnist for the Mail on Sunday. He doesn’t agree with the lockdown measures, and argues that what the government has done is disproportionate.
