WWE give health updated after Triple H suffers cardiac arrest

The Hall of Famer is recovering in hospital

WWE has confirmed that Paul 'Triple H' Levesque is in hospital after suffering a "cardiac event".

In a statement released on their website, WWE gave few details on his health scare but said that Levesque underwent a "successful procedure" last week at Connecticut's Yale New Haven Hospital.

The "episode" was related to a genetic issue.

The company tweeted: "Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event. The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery."

When the news broke that one of wrestling's biggest names had fallen ill, fans were left shocked with many taking to social media to post messages of support.

One read: "True GOAT. One of the best to ever lace a pair of boots. Glad to hear he's doing better. Onward and upward, King Of Kings!"

Another said: "That's scary news. I hope he's okay. I pray that he'll overcome this."

Triple H is one of the most decorated and popular wrestlers of all time, spending the majority of his wrestling career with WWE before moving to an off-screen role. He is now one of their top officials.

During his career, he was a 14-time world champion, and also took the King of the Ring and Royal Rumble crowns, whilst enjoying legendary rivalries with the likes of The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.
