Here’s where a host of UK colleges ranked on the 2018 World University Rankings

Four UK colleges in the top 10.

Six third level institutions in the UK featured in the top 25 of the QS 2018 World University Rankings, published on Wednesday.

Within the top 10, the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London, Imperial College London all featured.

The top four colleges were MIT, Stanford, Harvard and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) respectively.

Two other UK colleges are ranked in the top 25 with King’s College London (23) The University of Edinburgh (25) rating favorably.

The annual rankings are compiled using six simple metrics believed to effectively capture university performance:

  • Academic Reputation (40%)
  • Employer Reputation (10%)
  • Faculty/Student Ratio (20%)
  • Citations per faculty (20%)
  • International Faculty Ratio (5%)
  • International Student Ratio (5%)

12 of the UK universities in the rankings were awarded a five-star rating in accordance with a system which allows students to get a wider picture of an institution’s qualities, looking at everything from the employability of graduates, to sports facilities and community engagement.
