Tornado warnings have been issued for six areas of the UK with hail, lightning and high winds expected to batter the country.
Although the idea of tornados in the UK may sound far fetched, turns out us Brits see an average of 30 each year, with the area between Berkshire and London being where they are most likely to occur.
The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation has warned that small tornados will be possible this afternoon and evening (6th October), with wind speeds of 50mph having the potential to build into tornados.
The affected areas will also be battered by hail and lightning.
"A shortwave trough will move ENE this afternoon/evening, accompanied by areas of showery rain, some convective in nature," the organisation said.
"One or more small-scale circulations (mesolows) may evolve, although model guidance differs somewhat on the exact morphology.
"Gusty winds, hail (perhaps up to 1cm diameter), and occasional CG lightning may accompany the stronger cores.
"Additionally, isolated tornadoes are possible, especially if any mesolows form. Any such mesolows would produce a more focussed risk corridor for gusty winds and occasional tornadoes."
The areas set to be affected by the risk are:
Unfortunately, the nasty wet weather seems likely to continue into next week - although we shall have to wait to see if anymore tornados are forecast.
The Met Office's predictions for the next week are: "As we move into the new working week, Monday and Tuesday bring a mixture of sunshine and showers, the heaviest and most frequent in the west, with conditions drier in the east.
"Unsettled conditions likely to persist for the remainder of the week with the potential for disruptive rain and wind."
