Over 300 passengers and crew evacuated after plane catches fire on Tokyo runway

The cause of the fire isn't yet known.

A total of 319 passengers and crew were evacuated from a Korean Air plane at Haneda Airport in Tokyo after an engine fire broke out on the plane while it was on the runway.

The flight was about to take off and was bound for Seoul on Friday morning when a fire broke out in the left engine, causing the evacuation of those on board.

According to the BBC, the cause of the fire is as yet unknown and there were no injuries reported.

Fire crews tackled the fire with foam spray on the runway and managed to successfully extinguish the blaze.
