Coleen Rooney calls Rebekah Vardy's leaked texts read in Wagatha Christie trial 'pure evil'

The Wagatha Christie trail is back underway at the High Court

Coleen Rooney has labelled the leaked texts read out in court between Rebekah Vardy and her agent as “pure evil.”

Vardy is suing Rooney for libel after the latter accused her of leaking stories about her private life to The Sun in October 2019. Vardy denies these accusations and claims they are false and defamatory.

As part of the trial, a number of texts between Vardy and her agent Caroline Watt have been read out to the court, in which the two seem to discuss leaking private stories to the media.

On Monday, Rooney returned to the witness stand after first giving evidence on Friday. She told the High Court that the messages sent between Vardy and her agent were “just evil and they were uncalled for.”

Vardy’s barrister Hugh Tomlinson QC asked her: “She makes it clear to you that it wasn’t her, doesn’t she?”

She told the High Court: “She [Vardy] says she has zero interest in what is going in my life, which I believe is totally untrue.

“She talks about me a lot without me even knowing her,” Rooney said.

“She’s got no need to talk about me or my Instagram.”

Rooney added: “I’m not a bad person. I’m not the words used.

“There is no need for it because I’ve never done anything to them.”

Rooney has now finished giving evidence, with three witnesses for the defence due to be called this afternoon.

The court has already heard allegations of Vardy leaking private information to the press about a number of subjects, including stories about her husband Jamie’s teammates, and Peter Andre.

The trial continues.
