US military UFO report fails to rule out alien activity

Simon Lloyd

Speculation about the contents of the report is building amongst UFO enthusiasts

A US government report into a string of unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings does not rule out alien activity, despite finding no evidence of it.

A declassified version of the report is expected to be passed on to lawmakers in America later this month. It has been produced by a military task force which was set up last year to look into unexplained sightings within US airspace – some going back decades.

Various US media outlets – including the New York Times and Washington Post – have reported some of the details about the review since Thursday, citing conversations with government officials.

The report is said to look at as many as 120 separate incidents and is expected to say that majority of sightings were not the result of US technology. Beyond that, however, no definite explanations are believed to be given.

Broadcaster CNN says it has spoken to three separate sources who say the report does not rule out extraterrestrial activity as potential explanations for some of the sightings.

The document is scheduled to be released to Congress on June 25, with speculation building amongst UFO enthusiasts as to what exactly it may contain.
