Shane Farrington killed a prisoner in his cell at HMP Peterborough
Police are warning the public not to approach a convicted killer who has escaped prison for the second time.
Shane Farrington was last seen at HMP Thorn Cross in Appleton, Warrington, at 6.45pm on Thursday.
Police are currently carrying out a number of inquiries in a bid to find the 39-year-old and they are urging anyone with information as to his whereabouts to contact them.
Farrington was last seen wearing a dark top with white writing on the front, blue jeans, black shoes, a dark coat and has a dark rucksack.

He is known to have links within the Peterborough area.
Farrington was found guilty of manslaughter in 2009 – after he attacked and killed a prisoner in his cell at HMP Peterborough, The Sun reported.
This is Farrington’s second escape. He absconded while being treated in Norfolk for a head injury in 2018.
Superintendent Mike Evans said: “We currently have numerous officers carrying out a variety of searches to locate Farrington. “While our enquiries are ongoing we’re urging anyone who sees Farrington to not approach him but to instead call Cheshire Constabulary immediately on 999 quoting IML 1230000.”
Evans said police will maintain a presence around the prison and around “the local area to provide reassurance to the community”.
He advised anyone with concerns to speak to officers.
